In this article we will explore the vast world of wonders known as the Disney Vacation club.
We will also explore how the DVC works, how the DVC point system works, and the different resorts that make up this world.
The Disney Vacation Club was founded in 1991, and it allows members to buy into an official Disney resort like Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower, Old Key West, and many more.
Disney vacation club members buy a contract with Disney (either directly or through re-sale) that gives them an allotment of points to use every year until that contract expires. The points can be redeemed to stay at a DVC hotel, but can also be used for Disney cruises, Adventures by Disney, and more.

When you buy into the Disney Vacation Club, you purchase a set number of “vacation points.” The minimum number of points that can be bought directly from Disney changes over time, but you are also able to buy a contract from an existing member, aka on the “resale market”, and buy any number of points you’d like.
You only have to buy these points once, and then they are allocated on a yearly basis until the contract’s end. For example, if you buy 250 “vacation points” in your initial purchase, you will receive 250 points each year to “spend” on your vacation accommodations.
